Slinging the day away…
Today’s post is dedicated to my Slingbox Pro. For nearly two years, it lived at my grandfather’s house in Mansfield. I was able to watch TV from Cleveland & Columbus, including the Buckeyes, Indians and Browns. Was a great investment while living in Texas.
It was great until grandpa moved last year. His new place didn’t have the bandwidth for 2 HDTV digital tuners, cable modem, analog TV & the Slingbox tuner. So I decided to bring it home so I could take advantage of the devices I have at home.
It took most of my Sunday, but I rewired all my inputs on the back of my TV and set-up the Slingbox for my cable, satellite and XM Radio. For awhile I was having issues trying to get the IR Blasters, which control the devices … turns out the one was positioned wrong. Wasted about 2 hours on that. So now I’ll get all my TV channels on my computer and my cell phone.
If you can watch TV while at work or on your cell phone, a Slingbox is a great investment. Now I’ll be able to listen to the news on my way home from work…instead of drive time radio.
But in the end, it looks like I’ve got everything working. Just in time to watch the Big Ten Network. It was added to our Comcastic lineup on Friday. Of course, they’ve put it at the VERY END of the HD tier, not next to the other sports channels where it belongs. The only disappointing thing is every classic game that’s been on so far is one where Ohio State loses. Guess that’s to be expected since Ohio State doesn’t lose that often. We’ll see the first weekend of the season where the “overflow” games will be offered.
